The Program

  • Summer

Our summer cohort features trail running, hiking and rock climbing mentorships. Check out the applications or FAQ page for more details.

  • Winter

Our winter cohort focuses on backcountry skiing and splitboarding. Check out the applications or FAQ page for more details.

  • Mentees

Mentees have their own equipment and goals in mind for what they want to learn and gain from mentorship. They may be new to their chosen sport, have gone a few times, or are looking to build their confidence. For the winter cohort mentees are required to have AST 1 before applying.

  • Mentors

Mentors have been involved in their sport for a number of years and have spent time learning and growing their skills. They’re looking to share their knowledge to help a mentee grow in their own abilities. Mentorship is not teaching or guiding but advising, sharing your own experiences and strengths to support a mentee in reaching their goals.

  • Skills Nights

Skills Nights happen each month of a cohort. They are a chance for mentors and mentees to build community, enhance their skills, and knowledge with the help of an instructor. Previous skills nights have included wilderness first aid, navigation, hiking skills, and rock climbing skills.

  • Events

Each cohort has a kickoff event which is a chance for mentors and mentees to meet each other. As well, each cohort has an end of season event to celebrate. We also host fundraiser events, including a women’s backcountry storytelling night.
